Jo Ann's Story
We left Minnesota in 1967. Skip and I traveled all over the U.S. for 3 yrs. Lived in Dallas, Tx, New Orleans, Jacksonville, Fla, Orlando, Fla, Cleveland, Oh, Paducah, Ky and finally Phoenix, Az since Oct. 1970. Visited Mexico and Canada and a total of 32 states now. I went to school for Medical Assisting here and graduated with honors, then started attending community college part-time. Working on two Associate Degrees. One a major in Earth Science and the other History. My boys have grown up and married. I have 3 grand-children and 1 great-grandson. Skip passed away April of 2004 of cancer. My mom of heart failure, 6 months later, here at the house. I went through a house fire just a few months ago. Skip's and mine, friend passed away in it. But I'm a tough old bird and am surviving everything. Would like to find Sylvia? I heard she was in the Denver, Colorado area. Still talk to Richard Van Bramer.
My best friend would tell you I'm the go to person for help, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as cold and ...Expand for more
stand-offish..
I am disabled now and stay at home most of the time. I do dispatch for a truck driver who travels the southwest and the midwest. It keeps me busy and helps him. One of my boys, lives with me, he is also disabled from a few things. One of them being a back injury that is now going to need surgery. I live in the country and have wildlife around the place. recently had a stent put in. I caught the Widowmaker before it became fatal. It was a 95 % blockage. My doctors are the ones I worked with in the hospital. He said knowing that something was wrong and getting it looked at was what saved me. The medical training came in handy. He said also working the Cardiac and ICU/CCU units helped. I've worked 3 hospitals before I had to retire. The first in Labor and Delivery, the second the Oncology floor/essentially all over the hospital and the last a Cardiac Unit. So it all helped. I have also done some hospice here at home for Skip, my mom and our best friend Terry, who died in the fire. But, I still enjoy life and love the area.
